Casual sophistication with long pool and sea views

OVERVIEW 

Few places on Mallorca can claim so many fabulously luxurious properties as Old Bendinat, and this wonderful villa stands among some of its finest. It’s a masterwork by renowned architect Osvlado Luppi, who’s created a beautifully flowing layout that combines sophisticated design with supremely liveable spaces and first-class features.  

High-end sophistication shines from every corner of the villa. There’s the rooftop terrace with broad vistas over the glistening Mediterranean – a perfect spot for sundowners. Or flop on the comfy corner sofa in the garden lounge, breathing in the scents of the surrounding flora. Picture yourself reclined poolside on a cushioned double lounger, before slipping into the water for a cooling dip. 

Whether you’re a large family or group of friends, this sleek and sunny villa can accommodate up to 12 guests, and with enough comfy nooks and communal spaces to be as sociable or secluded as you like. A garage for at least three cars also leaves you free to explore the island in your own time.  

SETTING 

Bendinat is an upmarket, residential neighbourhood made up of peaceful streets that wind around a peaceful hillside community overlooking the Bay of Palma. It’s a short stroll down to a lovely small cove, where crystal clear water laps softly against white powder sand. For a taste of glamour, the Port Portals yacht marina is just along the coast with another long sandy beach and excellent water sports facilities. 

Jump in the car and you’re also just 15 minutes from the buzz and bustle of Mallorca’s capital, Palma. Head into trendy Santa Catalina for some of the island’s cutting edge dining, wander the shopping lanes lined with designer fashion boutiques, or explore the city’s fascinating past in medieval Old Town.

SLEEPING 

You’ll find  bedrooms spread over the first floor, all with their own bathroom and two of which afford glimpses of the sea. Some add deep soaking tubs and all feature underfloor heating. The master bedroom also opens to a lovely terrace from where you can gaze out over the water. 

Decor is a calming blend of neutral tones and soft fabrics, with walls enlivened by colourful contemporary artworks. There’s a kids room, too, which can sleep up to four of the little ones in interconnected bunk beds.

RELAXING 

The villa is perfectly designed to make the most of the Mediterranean lifestyle, with floor-to-ceiling windows that fully open to create an fluid indoor-outdoor environment. There are numerous spots to unwind in, from the chic indoor lounge with comfy sofas and two computer stations, to an intimate courtyard with fireplace for extra ambience. 

Running almost the length of the landscaped garden, the villa benefits from a lovely swimming pool, long enough for a decent swim or just floating about in. A real fire at one end can also set the mood for a night time dip. The fitness-minded can find a gym onsite, as well as a sauna if you like to turn up the heat. 

EATING

If you love to cook, the villa features a top-of-the-range German-made Bulthaup kitchen, plus marble-top counters and everything you’ll need to whip up a fabulous meal. You’ll find a dedicated wine fridge here, too. If you prefer cooking alfresco, you can fire up the garden barbecue and, of course, there’s an outside dining area, too. 

The villa’s location also puts you within walking distance of two of the area’s best restaurants. Hotel Bendinat’s Las Terrazas offers refined traditional cuisine with some wonderful sea views. Alternatively, Astir restaurant at the nearby Iberostar Grand Portals Nous serves up a more avant-garde gastronomic concept.
