OVERVIEW 

If you are looking for somewhere uniquely different to spend your holiday on Mallorca, there’s nothing quite like Els Comellars. It’s a magnificent piece of striking minimalist design, where soaring walls create secluded fortress-like spaces, pastel-pink facades resonate against the deep blue Mallorcan sky, and lush landscaped gardens overflow with ancient olive trees and almond groves.

Built as a family home by two top architects, it’s more than just a spectacular piece of architecture, with warm liveable rooms that add a little magic to every moment of your time here. This is your chance to stay in a celebrated masterpiece of design, but with all the comforts you’d expect from a luxury villa and set in the picturesque southeast of the island – so close to some of its finest beaches. 

SETTING

The villa is surrounded by farmland and scenic countryside in the Santanyí region of Mallorca. There’s a distinct feeling of remoteness about the surroundings, adding to a profound sense of peace and seclusion. You’re close to the edge of the Mondragó Nature Reserve, too, which features two fantastic beaches both around 15 minutes’ drive or a pleasant walk away. The pretty medieval town of Santanyí is also less than 10 minutes by road, and famous Es Trenc beach about another 10 minutes. As well as being a wonderfully unspoilt corner of the island, it’s also just a 40 minute drive from Palma and the airport. 

SLEEPING

Els Comellars has five bedrooms sleeping up to ten guests. Three of the rooms have their own ensuite bathroom, with the master double adding a freestanding wooden bath tub, walk-in shower and stone basin. All are havens of calm, with soothing tones, terracotta tiling and plenty of natural light. The fifth bedroom is under the swimming pool and set apart from the main house.

RELAXING

You’d be hard pressed to find a swimming pool more spectacular than this 30-metres of glistening saltwater that almost disappears into the treeline canopy. There’s a separate shallow section, perfect for kids or just soaking, as well as a sun-drenched terrace with poolside parasols and loungers. Head up to the rooftop lounge for more comfy reclining and enjoy panoramic views as far as the sea. 

There’s a sunken walled clay tennis court if you fancy a set or two, plus you can find a sandpit onsite where the kids will love building sandcastles. 

EATING 

A discreetly tucked away kitchen area provides everything you’ll need for a self-catering holiday, plus you have a pick of places when it comes to dining. You can set up a table to be surround by woodland, in the soaring courtyard space, or the inside light-flooded dining room; every spot is enchanting. 

For dining out, there are plentiful options within an easy drive, too. Santanyí town offers several excellent eateries. In the other direction is the charming port town of Portopetro, where you can find some great freshly-caught seafood.
